To create it, the artist assembles dozens of small maple blocks into a rough form, then turns it on a lathe. The surface is dyed in shifting shades of deep purple and fuchsia, then finished with a high gloss lacquer for a depth of color rarely seen in wood. The elegant opening offers a peek of the contrasting matte black interior. Materials: Maple
