On November 1st DataYard will be performing maintenance on our billing/invoicing system.  In preparation of this maintenance the online payment portal will be offline from Friday October 30th until Tuesday November 3rd.  Payments may still be made by phone by calling 937-226-6896.

December Maintenance Week

Throughout the week of December 10th 2018, we will be performing maintenance on DataYard’s infrastructure and customer servers. This will include performing updates to all managed server infrastructure, including tasks that require reboots/shutdowns/service interruptions.  Maintenance will begin at 2:00AM EST and will be completed by 8:00AM EST throughout various days this week. Maintenance Week – January 2018

Exciting news, it’s maintenance week here at DataYard!  We’ve recently shifted from having a single maintenance window on the Saturday following Microsoft’s patch Tuesday, to installing updates on different portions of our infrastructure and managed servers/services at different times.  We will be performing updates on Wednesday 1/10, Thursday 1/11, Friday 1/12, Saturday 1/13, and Sunday 1/14.  Managed customer infrastructure will be patched on Friday 1/12 starting @ 3:00 AM and Saturday 1/13 starting at 3:00 AM.   All maintenance windows are anticipated to be over prior to 7:00 AM.

July 2017 Maintenance Window – 07/13/2017

On Saturday, July 13 2017, we will be performing maintenance on DataYard’s server and network infrastructure. This will include performing updates to our core switching environment and all managed server infrastructure, including tasks that require reboots/shutdowns/service interruptions.  Maintenance will begin at 12:00AM EST and will be completed by 11:00AM EST.  Network maintenance will commence at 12:01AM EST and complete by 3:00AM EST.  All system maintenance activities will begin at 3:00AM EST.

Infrastructure Migrations 1/31/2017

DataYard’s technical operations team will be migrating infrastructure servers on the evening of 1/31 commencing at 6:00 PM and ending at approximately 7:00 PM.  Services affected:

Job Opening – Linux Systems Engineer

DataYard is looking for an experienced Linux Systems Engineer to join our Technical Operations team in Dayton, Ohio. DataYard’s System team works to maintain, expand and improve DataYard’s cloud infrastructure and manage dedicated customer environments. This position is located at our Tier III data center in downtown Dayton.

Job Details

  • Manage DataYard’s enterprise cloud infrastructure
  • Focus on automating system configuration and deployment
  • Experience writing automation scripts, preferably in Python
  • Troubleshoot support requests from a queue based ticketing system
  • Work with other members of DataYard’s Technical Operations team to help deliver services to customers
  • Respond to service issues during your on-call rotation
  • Support and manage DataYard’s data backup and recovery service
  • Leverage your technical skills to identify the future of DataYard’s cloud services

Who You Need to Be

  • Self-motivated individual; you don’t ask for things to work on, you find them
  • Capable of breaking down complex technical problems into easily explainable parts
  • Willing to say that you don’t know the answer, but will find it
  • Crave knowledge, but know you can’t learn everything from a book (or the Internet!)
  • At least 3 years experience supporting complex Linux server environments, preferably Debian based
  • Big problems don’t scare you; instead you look at them with a raised eye brow and a come-hither stare

What You Should Know

  • Have a firm grasp of engineering complex Linux server infrastructures
  • Be comfortable working with traditional Linux server applications, like Apache, MySQL (MariaDB), PostgreSQL, OpenLDAP, Bind
  • Understand the concepts of virtualization and preferrably have worked with VMware or OpenStack in a production environment
  • Deep experience in core Internet fundamentals (DNS, SMTP, Routing, etc.)
  • Comfortable discussing and working with network fundamentals, like routing and switching

What Would Really Help

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering)
  • Experience with configuration management tools, like Ansible/Cfengine/Puppet/Chef
  • Experience working with, and creating, RESTful based API services
